1939 – Establishment of Terem Georgi Benkovski aircraft repair plant in Plovdiv

1939-1946 Early years

Construction of aircraft hangars and engine testing facility by design and under the supervision of Italian experts.
Repair of airframe and engines of aircraft types KB-3/4/5, Dornier Do-11D, Avia B71, Dornier Do-17, Bloch MB200, Ju-52, FW-58, FW-189, FI-156, AR-96 and other. Their repair continues until 1958, when they are taken out of service..

1947-1952 Consolidation and transformation into an aircraft repair base

Repair of IL-2, IL-10, LAZ-7, LAZ-7M aircraft and their engines
Construction of a new engine testing facility, designed for the new IL-2 and IL-10 piston engines.
Preparation for mastering the repair of first generation jet fighters and their engines, including construction of a repair facility for Yak-23 and Mig-15 jet engines and various onboard units, as well as a new and improved testing facility. First galvanic and painting facilities.
Modernization and reconstruction of the repair base, organizing of a hangar for repair of fighter jet airframes and equipment at the Graf Ignatievo air base.

Completion of the conversion from propeller to jet engine aircraft repair by 1958.
Overhaul of first generation fighter jets type Yak-23, Mig-15, Mig-17, and their modifications.
Mastering the overhaul of 2nd generation fighter jets type Mig-19; Parallel modernization and reconstruction of the facilities of the plant.
First international contracts for overhaul of Mig-17 and Mig-19 fighter jets and their engines

1965-1980 The plant makes headway – 2nd generation fighter jets

Large scale modernization, building and reconstruction of the plant in connection with the forthcoming mastering of Mig-21 fighter jet overhaul; Newly built jet engine testing facility in Krumovo air base.
Completion of the mastering process for the overhaul of Mig-21 and its modifications.
The plant gains increasing international recognition and becomes a trusted partner; New long-term contracts for overhaul of Mig-15, Mig-17 and Mig-21 fighters.
Initiation of the programme for production of aircraft spare parts.

1980-1996 Sustainable growth – 3rd and 4th generation fighter jets

Second large scale modernization, building and reconstruction of the plant in connection with the forthcoming mastering of Mig-23 fighter jet overhaul, including a new jet engine repair facility, reconstruction of the facility in Graf Ignatovo air base and further equipment of the testing facility in Krumovo air base.
Completion of the mastering process for the overhaul of Mig-23 and its modifications.
The plant becomes a leader in the overhaul of Mig-23 and its engines in Europe.
Gradual mastering of the overhaul of Mig-29, Su-25 and Su-22 fighter jets. Further modernization and reconstruction.

2002- Construction of a test bench for VR-14 and VR-24 main reduction gearboxes
2006- Certification from the Ministry of transportation of the Republic of Bulgaria for performing complete overhaul and technical maintenance of Mil Mi-8/17 Helicopters
Certification from the Ministry of transportation of the Republic of Bulgaria for approved maintenance organization under Part 145 of the Aviation Rules
2008- Certification from Eurocopter and Turbomeca for performing technical maintenance and periodic checks on Eurocopter AS532-AL helicopters and Makila 1A1 engines
Certification under the ISO9001:2008 standard
2011- Certification from MAK Aviation register Russia for a licensed overhaul and repair station for Mil Mi-8/17 helicopters
2011- Certification from Mil Plant Russia for performing complete overhaul and modifications on Mil Mi-8/17 helicopters both for civil and military purposes
Pending certification from Klimov Russia of the overhaul activities on VR-14 main reduction gearbox
Certification under NATO’s AQAP 2110 requirements
